The name for this practice arose from the perspective of this man’s “physical” life.
It begins with the youthful, albeit unconscious, mantra of “I am invincible” – and carries forth through the years to the sobering realization that he isn’t. On a day of particular vulnerability and increased receptivity, he realizes he is responsible for the condition of his life – and in like manner, responsible for setting it straight. He recognizes that he didn’t get to where he is overnight and as well, understands it will take many small, purposeful steps to work his way back – if possible.
The humbling truth settles in:
“Subtle are the ways to ruin, subtle the path of return”
And so, when someone decides to visit this practice for assistance, their goal may simply be to follow a “subtle leading” that it’s time to make a change. From that point, who knows what could unfold. But one thing is certain, there’s no way of knowing without the first step.
