“Yoga” is but a part of what Patanjali speaks of in “the Sutras.”  It is the physical portion.  Hatha yoga.  The poses – Asanas – are used as a means to an end – the “union” of mind, body, and spirit.

In particular, the form of Yoga practiced here is considered “Alignment Based” – which is, in all manner but name, the same as that practiced in an Iyengar studio.  The focus of this form centers on the quality of the Asana – on each detail, which subtly reminds the body of how it was intended to be, utilizing “Ahimsa” – do no harm – as one of its guiding principles. The end is always in sight, but the journey to that point is guarded in a sense by the teacher, ever-attentive to proper form, minimizing the possibility of injury.

And so, although this form of Yoga is surely “physical” in outward appearance, adherence to the age-old practice can potentially stir more than muscle memory.  It can sharpen the mind, tone the breath, and draw one’s attention away from the concerns of the day – with its ultimate impact limited only by the individual.

SESSIONS

For now, all sessions will be one-to-one.

During the initial consultation, the client’s desired goals will be discussed (e.g. “opening the hips” – “strengthening the core”) – and a routine devised in preparation for the following session, when each aspect of the routine will be introduced and walked through together, leaving the “day-to-day” practice to the client.  Follow-up sessions would be determined as necessary.

Pricing will be discussed individually.
